Ireland - totally casual?

I'm doing my last-minute packing - leaving tomorrow! Never been to Ireland. I'm assuming it's pretty casual? We're two women in our late 40's. Packing suggestions?? Is Dublin dressier than the smaller towns?

nope. wear whatever you're comfortable with at home-Ireland is quite casual-just bring sweaters and jackets-you'll need them.

It's very casual unless you're planning to stay or eat in very upscale places. Take something for rain and things you can layer according to the temperature. I don't take sweaters for summer trips. They take up too much space and a fleece pullover keeps me warm enough. Have a great trip!

Unless you are eating is a posh restaurant it's pretty casual here.

Dublin would be dressier than small towns and if you want to go to nice restaurants or bars you will need to make a bit more of an effort than being totally casual. However if you are just planning to eat in basic restaurants and go to normal pubs then jeans, t-shirts, fleeces, trainers, etc would be fine.

I think Dublin is dressier than the countryside but not in American terms. Neat casual is perfect. I think we dressed up more in NY/NJ. It's pretty much the same rulea apply over here as in the US.
