Hey all,

Thanks for clicking in and taking the time out of your day to read my question. I'll be in Ireland for 2 weeks and I'm looking for things to do. I'll be staying near the City Centre in Dublin. I know nothing of this place, so any suggestions or comments are welcome and appreciated.

What is there to do? Any great places to see? I've already scoped out the Fodor's guides to Dublin so I have a list of places that I think I would want to see. I'm looking to the experts (you guys #therealMVPS) to get some ideas. If it isn't too much, please give me an estimate and general idea of how much each suggestion will run me - food, traveling cost, and entrance fees, if any.

"This place" = "near the City Centre in Dublin"? or "Dublin" or "Ireland"?

Do you have to be anchored to "near the City Centre in Dublin?"

As my living arrangements will be in the city centre of Dublin, I am looking to stay near or being able to travel back to the city centre within one day.

@greg - I guess I am looking for things to do in Dublin. I know nothing of Dublin or Ireland to be honest.

You can do some great day tours from Dublin. Take the bus or train to Belfast even for the day.

Great tour, small bus.
Get on the dart and travel north to Howth for a cliff walk, just will coast you the train fare.

Dublin has so much to see, museums are free and the parks are so nice.

Go see Trinity College and take a tour there. Take a historical walking tour of Dublin which leaves from the front gate of Trinity College. The National Museum of Archeology is wonderful and really gives a sense of the country and its history. Book a tour at the Kilmainham Gaol and learn about the history of Irish independence. If you're into beer at all go to the Guiness factory which isn't far from the Kilmainham Gaol. If you like art go to the Hugh Lane Gallery and National Gallery of Art. Wander around Temple Bar. Go to #29 Georgian House on Merrion Square for a sense of how the upper middle class lived in the 18th c.
Buy a good guidebook or check one out of the library- there are a ton of things to do in Dublin, and I haven't even mentioned the day trips you could do outside of town. If you know so little about Dublin, why are you going there?

Get yourself a leap card and you can go all over the city.

Glasnevin cemetery, Collins Barracks are must see during the 1916 uprising anniversary.

There are tours to Newgrange and that is well worth it. On Suffolk St there is a church that is now the tourist office. Check it out for the best info on day tours.
