Ireland -Safe/Nice Cities
Hello-
I am exploring the world of house/pet sitting. I am interested in Ireland and other countries, but will post in each designated area of the site. Can you tell me which cities in Ireland are the safest/nicest? Things I am considering are: Safety Proximity to public transport Proximity to restaurants, shopping Ambiance Noise - prefer quiet If you live in Ireland or have traveled extensively there, I would really appreciate your input. Thank you in advance! picture_girl |
It depends on the Person. All cities have some noise but opur cities other than Dublin are quite small so it would never be like Manhattan noise or crowds.
All big towns and cities have bus routes and Dublin has the Bus, the Dart and the Luas to many parts of the city All transport will bring you to the centre of a city so thats where to shop and some local neighborhoods have their own shopping areas especially in the suburbs. Ambiance..that is really different from person to person...Ireland is a not all green fields and leprechauns and we have a busy workforce who commute daily and live the same as you so quaint may be in the middle of nowhere with little or not public transport Can you be more specific...are you looking to Pet sit here??? I personally would hesitate placing a stranger in my home to pet sit especially someone not from here. Just an observation. |
Agree - I think you'll find becoming a house/pet sitter without local references or contacts extremely difficult. (People who do this usually use kids or friends of friends.)
Who would want a stranger to their city - as well as a stranger to them - to be in charge of their house - never mind their pets. It seems like this plan needs some rethinking. |

There are many companies that offer the service of connecting house sitters with people who need a sitter. I have house sat extensively in the U.S. and have a long list of references. Not really interested in your opinion on my "plan" - but thanks for offering. |
Picture_girl there was no offence meant by us I am giving a local point of view here. We are a small country and even a wealthy person would have a local on their employment or relative/neighbor deal with pets and plants. Its not really a part of how we do things here thats all (only 4.5 million of us!) Friends I know with several pets use Kennels or Family to mind the house and pets when away. Companies that do this to my knowledge I have not seen in Ireland as there is not a big sdemand and many of the Local ISPCA branches have people as well that do local Pet walking etc when people are away. Its not meant as a slur on you just a different frame of mind here and people are less likely to open their homes to a stranger thats all. Its not impossible but less likely
Best of luck and let us know how you get on. S |
