If you do spend two or three nights in Westport, I'd highly recommend driving to Achill Island. If you stop to enjoy the scenery along the way and spend some time on the island, it'll take pretty much a whole day. But I think it's well worth it. Definitely some of the most beautiful coastal scenery I've experienced in my whole life.

We were so happy with our B&B in Westport that I feel I should mention it here. It's Adare House www.adarehouse.net. We enjoyed everything about it. The rooms were large (at least compared to most B&B rooms) and comfortable. The location is great, about halfway between the town centre and the Harbour, walking distance to both. The breakfasts were very good and served in a wonderful glass walled room with a marvelous view. But, best of all, Margaret is great! Very friendly and helpful.

Thanks to all of you -- and yes the next thing I will be doing is trying to find places to stay in all those towns so thanks caph52 for starting me there already!

Glad I could help, mpkp!

Padraig point is important. Don't expect to see Newgrange on the afternoon that you arrive. By early afternoon, they are usually sold out for the day. It used to be that you could get tickets for the next morning the day before. I'm not sure if that is still the case.

We stayed at a great place in Lisdoonvarna, The Royal Spa Hotel, and it has a pub with trad music

I've stayed in 2 places in Lisdoonvarna. Sheedy's Country House Hotel and Carrigan's. They are both very nice. Sheedy's has recently been redone and is right in the village. Carrigan' is a few blocks walk and has something to do with the walks in the Burren. Just the nicest people at both places.

mpkp, I do have to admit, Sheedy's was a little nicer as they had just remodeled and the bathrooms were so spotless and everything was very comfortable.
