Ireland Question: "girls night out"

We were in a pub in Dublin and saw three or four women of an uncerain age bounce in with matching T shirts that said, in loud red letters "Slappers on the Pull".!! Now, I am guessing what that means, but can someone from the Emerald Isl enlighten me more fully.

A "slapper" is a tart, a lady of easy virtue, a slut. "on the pull" means trying to engage gentlemen in intellectual banter - just joking; means trying to pick up a guy.

Guess you ran into a hen's party!

When I was in Dublin this summer, my sister was down in the lobby of our hotel and came up to our room and said you have to go down to the lobby you will never believe what's down there. So off I went. There were at least 20 grown women dressed to the nines as story book characters. The costumes were so elaborate and let me say sexy and some slutty and on the verge of skankey. I asked the consierge and he told me it was a "Hen party". You should have seen Mary had a little lamb; Mother Goose was probably rolling over in her grave! (if she had one!hee-hee)

So what IS a hen party? Is it like an American Bachelorette party?

Yes, hen party is the equivalent of a bachelorette party.

Most of these girls are just having fun on hen party nights out!.. If you ventured down Temple Bar area and saw the hen parties there, your eyes probably would have popped out!!!
