Hope to make a one-man bicycle trip next April to Ireland. Plan to take my own bike but am concerned about getting the bike onto the trains/buses for longer journeys. Outline is fly to Dublin with bike in box, take box south to Waterford. Unpack bike and cycle southern Ireland at least 10 days, find low-end lodging each night, and end up at Limerick. Then box the bike, rent a car and go towards Sligo and play some golf. Return car (where?) and take train/bus with boxed bike back to Dublin.
Sound reasonable/doable at that time of year? Don't worry about the golf.

I’m sure there’s an obvious answer to this but why don’t you leave the bike at Shannon Airport left luggage, rent the car there, play golf, return the car to Shannon and fly home from there?
