Ireland- Private Tour Advice

Hi,

My wife and I are going to be in Dublin for five nights, along with a few others. This is our first trip to Ireland. Unfortunately, we need to stay in Dublin every night (my wife is running a fundraiser marathon and has events there most days), but we would like to explore areas of the country outside of Dublin during the day. Can anyone recommend any decent private tours? We'd love to see some of the countryside, some old castles and, if possible, make it out to the Cliffs of Mohr.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

This may be not your thing but you could catch the dart
http://www.dublin.ie/transport/dart.htm to Howth which is a lovely little port, brunch at the King Citric perhaps

The Cliffs are on the far west coast of Ireland. Dublin is on the far east coast. They are not really doable as a day trip. But if you must, tour companies like http://www.cliffsofmohertours.ie/ will take your money and put you on the coach.

You are basically on a bus for 12+ hours - 90 mins at the cliffs, a lunch break in Doolin, and Corcomroe Abbey are the only real stops. Other firms offer similar.

If you'd prefer a private driver/guide - maybe contact Kieran @ http://www.private-guides.com/guide-...cathcart-1645/

We did the cliffs in a day, we rented a car and made it in 3 hours to the clifs spent a couple hours there and drove 3 hours back although we stopped several times so it took a while longer. Id say if you started early around 6-7 that would be even better

Taylor: Dublin to the Cliffs is approx 170 miles. That is not a 3 hour drive. Sure - Dublin to junction 19 before Galway is on M's. But one won't average 60 mph on this drive.
