Ireland itinerary assistance

Hi, I am currently planning my first trip to Ireland for June of 2015 for 3 adults. I am thinking of staying in Dublin, and either renting a car or using the train for day trips. Places of interest are a Dublin city tour, the Blarneystone, the Ring of Kerry, County Cork, Cliffs of Moher, and possibly Belfast. I would prefer to stay in a hotel, as three separate beds will be required. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to have a couple of bases for day trips. It is about four hours one way to Kerry.

Ireland is a small country - but not THAT small. Many of those places are too far from Dublin for a day trip. You need to understand that many of the most charming areas are in the countryside - down narrow winding country lanes with a top speed of about 35 mph.

There simply isn't time to get to and fro most of these places. You will need to stay in at least 2 places in addition to Dublin - based on which sights are the most important to you.

And you will really need to rent a car. Many trains run on the hub and spoke pattern - with Dublin often the hub. So to get from A to B you frequently cannot go cross country by train - but have to go back to dublin and out again - taking forever.

Many bed and breakfasts have rooms with three separate beds. Just ask.

Thanks everyone, I will start looking into where to stay besides Dublin.

Kenmare would be a good second base for ROK and Cork and then Galway for a couple of nights. Go back to Dublin and take the train to Belfast for the day or spend a night there. You don't say how many days you have. Three to a room is usually no problem. Many hotels have accommodations like that.
