Ireland-Is 2 days enough time to see more than Dublin?

Ireland-Is 2 days enough time to see more than Dublin?
My 14 year old daughter and I will be in England for a week with some friends, and afterwards will have 2 full days and a morning in Dublin, Ireland before making our trip back to Boston. I've never been to Ireland, and I don't know if since we only have a couple of days our time would be best spent seeing Dublin in it's entirety, or should we try to spend a day in the city and a day traveling outside of Dublin. Does anyone have any suggestions? We'll be in Dublin at the beginning of August. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

There is certainly plenty to occupy your time in Dublin for 2½ days but a day trip north to Newgrange or south to Clonmacnoise would be wonderful too.
The hop-on-hop-off bus tickets are good for 24 hours and will give you a good overview of the city's sites.
If you will be there when college is not in session perhaps it would be fun to stay at Trinity College.

I agree that 2.5 days is enough time to visit Dublin and do a day trip. We did both Newgrange and Glendalough as day trips from Dublin and either would be good, depending on your interests. If you do Newgrange, I'd probably try to add Trim Castle as well (which is what we did) as Newgrange won't take all day to visit.

Oops, Tony, you are correct (as usual). Clonmacnoise, while one of my favorite places, is a long day from Dublin. I did mean Glendalough.
Les22, if you "do" Newgrange, take a tour from Dublin as that will ensure that you get a ticket...they do sell out so if not on a tour you need to get there early. And longhorn is correct that it won't take all day but if on a tour you are at their mercy. Perhaps the Hill of Tara would be included in the tour.
