Ireland in July

I need advice on where to rent a house...non-catering.....for a week. I know the rentals run Saturday to Saturday and we will be staying in hotels on both ends of the trip. We fly into Shannon...then maybe head to Dublin for a few days?...then the house for a week...where?....and then a few days somewhere else until we fly back out of Shannon. Some thoughts...around Dublin for a few days...house in Westport?...around Dingle for a couple of days and then back to Shannon to fly out. Any suggestions???

We haven't been to Westport, but I'd like to go next time. We spent a week in a self-catering house in Doolin, and really liked it, but that's a very busy time of year. We used Doolin as a jumping off place to visit the Burren, the Cliffs, a day on Inisheer, to Ennis and to Kilfenora in the evenings for music and dancing. Your cost will be much lower in more out-of-the-way spots up north. The place we stayed in was about 500 euro per week for three bedrooms plus one little sleeping room, kitchen, sitting room with heat stove, and washer, but no dryer. Most self-catering places have a power surcharge, and I think that was about 25-30 euro. Not fancy, but it met our needs nicely.

I go to Westport a few times a year (I live in Dublin). Contact Westport Estates and they have several rental places. We rented an apartment for a few days last August when we were at a wedding. Click on my name for a trip report and details about Westport.
