Ireland in August--Is it possible to avoid crowds?

I am going to Ireland in August to visit my family there and tour the South and West. I would have preferred to go a different month, as I understand that Ireland is packed with tourists in August. However, I am beginning a new job in September and taking the bar exam on July 31, so I am short on options. Any thoughts on how to avoid the crush?

A few places may be crowded-Killarney town,The Cliffs of Moher,Galway perhaps but I find that crowding is not much of a problem. The first weekend in August though is a public holiday so B and Bs should be booked in advance.
