Ireland in 3-4 days
Flying into Dublin on a Friday morning and leaving for London Monday afternoon. I'm not sure of airline itinerary for Monday yet and there will 4 of us 30 year olds traveling together. Is it possible to see the Cliffs of Moher and Dublin in this short time? What would you suggest as far as sightseeing goes in this short timespan?

Yes, it would be possible. Sensible? Probably not! If you were to drive you'd spend the best part of 2 days travelling and wouldn't see much else. You could fly to Shannon - but, again, with checking in & getting to & from airports, you're going to spend a long time travelling to get from East to West.
I would suggest, seeing as you are stuck for time, just to base yourselves in Dublin. There is plenty to see & do in the city. You could also take a day trip to Wicklow - perhaps take in Powerscourt Gardens and Glendalough. Another day trip would be to Newgrange in County Meath. There is plenty on the East Coast to occupy you for a long weekend. Save the West till next time. |
If you're flying in from Shamokin (PHL or EWR) you'll arrive DUB early in the AM. You could catch a CityLink Bus to Galway and catch a few Z's along the way (4hrs 15 min from Dublin airport to Galway's Tourist Office). They have 8:15 and 9:15 AM departures that get you to Galway just in time for a nice lunch at Garvey's Hotel. Been there; done that! http://www.CityLink.ie
When you get to Galway, you could book a private half day van tour to the Cliffs. BTW I wouldn't go all the way to Ireland just to see the Cliffs of Moher: there are many other sights to see, closer to (or in) Dublin. |
I did a trip report on our weekend in Dublin this past summer. We only stayed in the city though. Here is the link in case you still need ideas:

If you are flying into Dublin, then its a very long way to travel to the Cliffs of Moher, it would be rather tiring, and not really worth it in my opinion, you would be best just trying to see as much of Dublin for the weekend. |
Thanks for the input. We decided against the Cliffs of Moher and will be in Dublin for 2 days and travel to Cork for 2.
