Ireland help - First EPIC visit in Sept

Hello, I'm new to the forums, but I have been perusing for some time. My husband and I will be traveling to Ireland/Scotland in September for 20 days. I have put together a proposed itinerary, please let me know if I'm being too "crazy" by cramming in too much. I'm trying to be as informed as possible. We really enjoy hiking (plan to walk along cliffs path, and some in Burren, and again Glendalough area), love to see castles, scenery, and pubs at night (not too late, we like our sleep as well). We are not huge museum goers. We are in our young 30s, and are looking forward to some of the "fun" driving in order to see some country side.

Here is my Ireland proposal:

Day 0 - leave for Shannon

Day 1 - flight into Shannon (7:35 am) - rental car - Burren or Cliffs of Moher- stay in Ennis or vicinity

Day 2 - Cliffs of moher in am (we are open to flip flopping burren and cliffs) - then drive to Killarney (3 nights) - I have read around 4 hour drive or more

Day 3 & 4 - Killarney (Ring of Kerry, torc waterfall, muckross, etc.)

Day 5 - Drive to Cashel - tour Rock of Cashel - drive to Kilkenny 1 night - we plan to leave early, be at Rock of Cashel around openning, spend 2-4 hours and then drive on to Kilkenny, if we arrive early enough go to Kilkenny castle as well

Day 6 - Kilkenny Castle - drive to Glendalough - afternoon hike/ picnic

Day 7 - Drive to Dublin - dump rental car - Dublin (3 nights)

Day 8 & 9 Dublin

Day 10 flight to Scotland

Any suggestions or tweaks would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks everyone

I have seen this or something very similar before? Yes Looks like a good considered plan.. the drive between Ennis and Killarney could take more than 4 hours if you take the long detour round the Dingle peninsula on the way.

thank you so much for the response. You may have read something similar, I really tried to read a lot of other posts and comments to help come up with an itinerary. I started working on this 3-4 weeks ago. I did not want to simply say........"where should I go for 10 days"

We thought we would go through Limmerick via the Tunnel from Ennis to Killarney. We never even thought about going via the long detour, but now I'm looking up info on that. Thanks again

Are you doing an open jaw ticket, going into Shannon and out of Edinburgh or coming back to Ireland? I did this once with going to Edinburgh for several days and then flying back to Dublin and did more touring in Ireland. It was a cheap Aer Lingus rt flight and less money than flying home from Edinburgh. Glad you are giving Dublin three nights. You will enjoy it.

flpab - We are doing an open jaw ticket. Flying in and out of Shannon saved us a total of $150 compared to the open jaw ticket flying into Shannon and out of Edinburgh.
