Ireland guided tour

has anyone done the Irish Odyssey tour (12 days)? My mom, brother and myself will be going August 21, 2014 and I'm looking for a more complete schedule of times; when we leave in the morning each day and what time does the day end. My mother is 78, she tires easily and doesn't always adjust well when out of her normal routine but she's been wanting to go for some time, I want to prepare her as much as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First of all -- give us a link so we can actually check the itinerary.

But having said that >>when we leave in the morning each day and what time does the day end<< . . . on most tours you can count on leaving very early most mornings. Luggage in the hall by 7 or 8AM, on the coach by 8 or 9 AM. Set times for rest breaks and some very long days.

Your mother doesn't sound like a good candidate for a regimented group tour.

Have you already booked/paid for the tour? If not, it might be better to plan a slower, nicer independent trip.

Odyssey has one Ireland tour for 13 days. Looking at the itinerary I'm sure you'll be up and on the bus early. Usually tours are at the hotel by 4 or 5 in the afternoon for an early dinner.

A way to help her acclimate better is to arrive a day ahead to get over jet lag.

Bus tours stop every 2 hours for people to get out and stretch and use the facilities. She can doze on the bus (bring a neck pillow so she can sleep better) and a shawl or sweater to put around her.

Only the tour company can give you exact information. You should be contacting them.

Here is the link, and janisj, yes everything is booked - I kind of suspected early mornings but not sure of the rest.

Thanks for the info.

Actually that tour don't look too bad -- more two nighters than one night stands. But do count on early AM departures.

It's helpful to give a link or the tour name. Your tour is a CIE tour, not an Odyssey tour. So you really want to know if people have taken this CIE tour, not the Odyssey tour of Ireland.

It's covering much more territory than the Odyssey tour so I would expect long days and lots of bus time.
