What websites do Romans use to find long-term apartment lease (1+years)?

Doing websearch for possible long-term Rome rental, and every place that comes up is really for tourists.

For anyone living in or has lived in Rome, suggestions would be appreciated! Do you usually go through a rental agency or real estate agency for this?

Thanks!

There have been some rental shows on Househunters. I don't remember the name of the company they used, but perhaps you can find the episode(s) online. There have been several shows about teachers where part of their rental cost was covered.

I would also e-mail RoninRome as he has rented there long term.

Wanted in Rome also has longer rentals.

If you just do a google search for "appartamenti in affitto roma" or even just "appartamenti roma" you will come up with ads and agencies. I really don't know you would want go through tourist websites and tourist providers unless you hope to be a tourist forever.

zeppole- that was my point. I DON'T want to go through an agency that normally only rents to tourists or short term.

Thanks for the input everyone!

Hi Sarge - Can you read Italian? The most popular rag/ website for Romans is Porta Portese

http://www.portaportese.it/rubriche/Immobiliare/

Hope this helps ...

Sorry - THIS is the starting page for rentals:

http://www.portaportese.it/rubriche/..._-_Subaffitto/

You can search by price (- left-hand column) and/or zone (- mappa)

I searched through loads of sites including http://www.portaportese.it/ and http://www.subito.it/ and http://cribrentalsrome.info/short-an...in-rome-italy/
I ended up renting from the last one - Crib Rentals.

Thanks, Jenny! Too funny that the last post on this was almost a year ago. But it is just now that I am actively looking for that long-term rental!

Thanks again for the info. Would you mind if I asked you a few other things about your Rome stay? If not, please email me at Paulam910@hotmail. I sure would appreciate talking to someone who is already living there.

Grazie!

You might try e-mailing Roninrome. I don't think he's in Rome anymore, but he lived there a few years and mentioned a couple of apartments/locations.
