Ireland/England Itinerary Suggestions Please!

I'm joining my daughter in Dublin following her study abroad program and will travel weekend to weekend with her in Ireland and England. Neither of us have ever been across the pond and would love a suggested itinerary from you seasoned travelers!

Not sure what you mean by "weekend to weekend". Does this mean one week for travel? More?

What are your interests?

Do you want ideas only for Ireland or also for England?

If you have 7 days I would spent maybe 3 in Ireland and 4 in England. I would spend 2 days in London and then travel up to Hampton Court outside of Oxford, then maybe travel to Stratford Upon Avon (if you like Shakespear - I would catch a play). You might want to visit Bath.

You could certainly spend the whole time in London but you won't really get to experience the English countryside which I think is so quintessential England.

yes - please clarify:

Are you asking about some weekend getaways - or are you asking about a single 7 to 9 day trip Saturday to the following Sunday?

But no matter which, it is impossible to give advice w/o some info from you. Like time of year? What sorts of things do you enjoy? etc.

You are talking two countries so several weekends or a single week long trip is long enough for only a tiny bit of either.

Really taking on a large area in a short time. You could just look at Ireland and Northern Ireland in a week with loads to do. Your daughter will love to show you Dublin which needs maybe 3 full days. Belfast needs 2 full days and then the countryside takes the rest. Given the generall climate on the island (it rains) give yourself two plans for days int the country (on indoors) do look out for pubs, part of the pleasure is the crac.

Will you have a car or are you dependent on public transport?

A bus company out of London has an extremely efficient day trip-- you can see Windsor Castle (including entry), Bath, and Stonehenge, all in one (very long) day. Superficial, yes, but extremely efficient, and if you're pressed for time, that may be the way to go. You can book the tour through Viator.

My apologies! I am just now getting on this to check responses. Thanks! Here are more details - I will arrive in Dublin on 7/18 and then we will see Dublin/travel to other parts of Ireland (suggestions appreciated), then fly to London and explore London and possibly take a day trip or two out of London. I have to leave on 7/26. We love to do everything! Shop, eat, go to museums, see shows, etc.

I'm considering renting a car once we leave Dublin for other parts of Ireland, but will use public transportation in England.
