Ireland - Easter weekend

Hello! We’ll be landing in Dublin on Good Friday morning and my plan is to drop the luggage off at our accommodations in Ballsbridge and then head by Dart to Howth for some brisk air and a seafood lunch. We’ll be kicking around Dublin for the weekend before heading to Galway on Easter Monday for a few nights. What sort of hours should we anticipate businesses (cafes, pubs, shops, St. James Gate) being open over the holiday weekend? We intended to stop in Athenry for the afternoon while traveling to Galway by train on Monday. Would we be better off (in terms of businesses being open) scheduling our afternoon in Athenry for when we’re returning east to Dublin on Thursday? My traveling companion hasn’t been to Ireland before and I’m trying to maximize what he gets to experience. Thank you for any insight or tips you might share.

Also going Easter weekend

We will be in Dublin Easter weekend this year. How did you find it? I'm wondering about all the things you were. Thanks!

Hi. I’m just back again from Ireland, so last year’s trip seems far back. 😊. As I recall, the only thing we wanted to do which was impacted by the holiday was the Book of Kells at Trinity. That wasn’t available over Easter Weekend. Beyond that, I don’t recall any issues. We spent Easter night listening to great trad music at the Cobblestone. Recommended!

Thank you! I definitely want to start with good music so I've been looking for a sure thing in case we don't stumble across it. We're staying at The Davenport near Merrion Square. Great to know about Trinity. We have to narrow down our must do things and if that won't be possible it makes it easier. Killmainham is our #1 and I'm worried about being able to book tickets. I'm jealous you've already been back! :)
