Ireland - Dingle Peninsula or Ring of Kerry

We are going to Ireland late August and are wondering if the Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Kerry look a lot alike or is it worth our time to go to both of them? Thanks.

We did the Dingle Peninsula with some people who had gone on the Ring of Kerry tour and they said that Dingle was much more beautiful. It was really breathtaking even on a cool cloudy St. Patrick's Day in March!

I live in Ireland and Dingle is one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. I have not been to the ring of Kerry but I don't think its too far and you could do both. The drive out to dingle is a bit difficult as the roads are small and winding but the view is breathtaking. Just take your time and dtop and admire the views! Enjoy.

Dingle is the best -- Kerry is too touristy with lots of busses. Make sure you take the Connor Pass (SP).

Dingle for sure. The Ring of Kerry was over-rated in my opinion. I agree with Mike about Conor Pass. We stayed in a wondeful B&B (Barnagh Bridge) in Camp and spent time exploring the Dingle Peninsula from there.

Do Dingle definitely! It is a great little town. We had hoped to go horesback ridding on the beach there - but it was very cold and rainy when we went in May 2002.

This matter has been debated on this board before so if you want further opinions put "ring of kerry" in the text search box.Over the years I would say most people on this board go for Dingle but there is a much bigger tourist business in Killarney which is on the Ring.It is possible to see Dingle plus Killarney National Park in one day if time is short. Also put words like dingle, killarney and ring of kerry in google.com to get a preview with <BR>pictures

Lillie, You are right, Killarney and the surrounding areas are very nice also. I would highly recommend seeing Killarney. We stayed at a wonderful farmhouse B&B there.
