Looking for a nice , good location 3*-4* star hotel in Naples for sept. '11
I planning on visiting Naples for several days in Sept. 2011. I have been reading much about the city including crime, convenience to historic sites and the city center. What is the preferred area? We would like a hotel convenient to restaurants too. We are also planning to go to Pompeii and am thinking of an ovrnight visit or a tour. I do my own planning usually and this is how I begin. Thanks for you assistance.

Also in the historic center is the Decumani. Doubles from €109 to €134. Best location - steps from the Santa Chiara cloister. It is THE area you want to be in.

Hi
I just checked the Piazza Bellini and it is not available for the time period or close to the time period I'm looking at now. I am going to check out the Decumani. there are a couple of hotels from that chain but I think I know the one you mean, closest to Santa Chiara. Thanks again

You may want to look at this place. Several Fodorites have stayed there, I didn't. But I walked by several times and it looked lovely. It's right in the heart of things -- near Piazza Bellini and the Archaeology Museum, walkable to everything:

We just had a strange stay in the Megaron B&B, in Piazza Dante close to the P.Bellini. The room was large and luxurious with a huge telly and black bathroom. An attendant was on call ALL the time but it appeared that only one room was to let (at 90 euro a night), the others being occupied by people we never saw but occasionally heard faintly. I cannot work out the economics of the setup.

We had a pleasant stay at the B&B Donna Regina, a couple of blocks north of the Duomo. It used to be a convent, hundreds of years ago.
