Ireland by car

We are traveling in early June to Ireland want info on 8-9 day driving trips Where to stay, where to eat is there a castle worth staying at??? What are some locations to not miss while there?

I suggest that you get some guidebooks from the library to narrow down what you want to see/do. With only 8-9 days, pick a relatively small section of Ireland. We spent 34 days there this summer to do a full circle driving trip.

Tell us where you are flying into and out of. How many of you there are what do you like to do? I love history so want to see historical sites but love the beauty and I love the city. I don't like B&Bs but some people do. I prefer hotels or apartments. Spend at least two to three nights at a couple of bases. You save wear and tear on yourself not packing and moving each day.

One of the biggest mistakes first-time visitors to Ireland make is trying to cover too much territory in too little time. The distances don't look far, but driving times are slow on secondary roads. Get a map and use the online AA Route Planner to plan your route. Add about 20% to the stated driving times to make them more accurate.

Yes, need to know where you are flying into. A group of family members went to Ireland in 2012. We flew into Dublin. Stayed in the Temple Bar area, which was awesome. From there, we rented cars and stayed in cottages in Wallslough Village, 5 kms away from Kilkenny. Kilkenny is a great town with a great vibe, history, and the amazing KILKENNY CASTLE. Stayed there a week and did day trips. Or you could fly into Shannon and spend a week in Kilarney and do day trips from there. You really do need to do a little research and the amazing ppl here on Fodors...can be of better help. Good luck:)

Sort the places you want to see. Then your travel style working on a maximum 200 miles a day at an average of 35mph. 8 or 9 days is not a long time on the ground so you will need to prioritise.

http://goo.gl/maps/JDQXB is a recent road trip overnight's map I did for someone.. some sights requested are on there but the routes between the beds and the accommodation at these places are blank.
