Ireland, britan, vimy ridge

We're hoping to plan a good holiday for our 50th birthdays of hubby and me this year. We'd like to do Ireland, Britan, and scoot over to France and check out Vimy Ridge. I'd love to squeak in a day in a town in Switzerland as it's on my bucket list, but hubby doesn't think we'll be able to. Hitting something in Germany would be great.
We're looking at 2 weeks, prefer no guided tours or limited to maybe the big things (The louve). We're not party people. But would like small family restaurants and quaint accomodations, visually appealing (classic looks)
Coming from Canada, would we be better off flying into Ireland? or ending in Ireland and flying to our furthest point?

reality check: 2 weeks = 14 days, which nets you 11.5 days free on the ground. ten you lose another .5 to 1 day every time you move. 11.5 days is enough time for a basic trip around Ireland. Or maybe a week in London and one other place in the UK and a few days in Paris, or a week in France and a few days in Germany or something like that.

>>a day in a town in Switzerland as it's on my bucket list, << A 'day' in a town in Switzerland would really require about 3 days - most of a day to get there, a day in the place, and most of a day getting to your next destination.

Listen to what janisj is telling you. You need either more time, a lot more time for this itinerary, or you need fewer destinations.

How are you planning on scooting ?

Once you are done with Ireland, you could pop over to Brussels, rent a car, (Vimy Ridge is an easy scoot from Brussels) and perhaps hop over to Ypres area (Hill 60, Hill 62, Passchendaele).

From Belgium, Germany is just a skip away. As for Switzerland, go to Luxemburg and call it even.

Classis looks, quaint accommodations and family owned restaurants are easier to find in smaller towns.

Prioritise or extend the time here.

Quaint (not a word used much in the UK ;-) )

Advice above is spot on.

Switerland is a whole country and a very crinkly country at that.

So, why not come back with clarity on priority?
