Ireland & Scotland in a week

Hi!

I'm traveling w my dad from London to either Ireland & Scotland for a week.

What is the best route for us to go? Should we go to Ireland first or Scotland? Which cities are best to go into?

Any recccomendations for best places to see go are welcome!

A week isn't enough time for both - choose one.

For a week, pick one, either Ireland or Scotland. You couldn't see much of Ireland in a few days, just Dublin, which is not the most interesting part of Ireland. And in Scotland for a few days you could do Edinburgh and maybe a one-day excursion. And a flight in between would kill most of one day. Not to speak of the time to get there and the time to get back.

Ireland, outside of Dublin, really requires a rental car. Are you ready to drive on the other side of the road?

Scotland you can do a little easier by train and bus. And look into the small group tours for one or several days offered by Rabbies; they're well-recommended on Fodors.

You and your dad need to do some research in guidebooks and online -- to find out what you really want to see.

A week isn't long enough to really see either country let alone both.

A week is enough for say Dublin and one or two other small areas, or Edinburgh and a short driving tour.

You need to do some reading and decide a lot of things: Do you want to drive? Do you want to stay in one city and do day trips from there? You have chosen those two countries for some reason - so why - what sorts of things do you want to see/do.

They are two whole countries - no one can tell you which sites are best for you - you need to read some guidebooks and come up with a basic plan and then we can help.
