ireland

I'm still looking for a package site so I can plan and book a custom trip to Ireland- with air, hotel and car. I have found some that I can use if I'm traveling to and from the same airport.
I'm looking to fly to SNN shannon and out of Dublin and it gives me the option to pick & choose B&B or hotels in the 3 star range. I've found some packages that include 5 star, however it's over my budget and somewhat a waste because the hotel is just a resting spot.
I appreciate any helpful advise and tips. Lynda

DIY. Find an open jaw flight deal, Book a car inclusive of all insurances with an Irish rental company and the folk on the forum will help with your itinerary and suggest places to stay that suit you and your budget.

Packages can look great on paper but I can assure you that some self drive just sell unsold coach tour rooms and can have you dashing about all over the place.

Listen to Tony, packages are horrible. Who wants a hotel or B&B in the middle of nowhere? Go to Trip advisor and look at the lodging.

Don't throw in the towel just yet.

Try AerLingus vacations. They have some fly-drive-stay packages and you may actually find their hotel choices very affordable.

I took one years ago that was all castle hotels. It was incredibly charming, although a few were off the beaten path.

They also had a B&B option.

Please remember that Aer Lingus Vacations are a prosthetic arm of the airline and do not get the best press.

Avoid Vouchers which at best give only 800 accommodation's on the Island, many in places you wouldn't chose to stay.

If booking Car hire make sure you know exactly what's in the package or you might be looking at a big payment or hold amount required at the collection desk.

All that said there are hundreds of thousands of visitors who have done all the sorting themselves come to Ireland every year.
