Ira, I share Francis_Josephine's remarks. When I posted a question or was in search of information you provided the answers I needed for which I can't thank you enough. You are most helpful and I appreciate your generous, kind spirit.

Ira is the walrus coo coo ki chu.

lilminkey Jul 13th, 2005 06:22 PM

Cigalechanta, sorry for the double posting ,but you hit a homerun as far as I am concerned.

hopingtotravel Jul 13th, 2005 06:56 PM

And here all this time I thought Ira lived in Tucson.

Hotel he pushes on the Amalfi coast? No, I thought it was one you walk by on the way to St. Sulpice and the Luxemburg Gardens.

My husband is asking why I'm laughing my head off!

smalti Jul 13th, 2005 08:33 PM

Another admirer of your helpful, informative posts weighing in, Ira.

I would imagine that a wizard, retired to the south, would enjoy the chance to finally relax and sit a spell...

kjenn Jul 13th, 2005 11:05 PM

I like that Ira never seems to "talk down" to new posters, or those who may ask an obvious question or title their thread vaguely. His posts are always positive and informative.

Wednesday Jul 14th, 2005 04:33 AM

I love Ira's sense of humor....his one liners are usually delivered at just the right moment to break up boring drivel and make me smile or laugh. Or make a way too serious subject laugh at itself...thanks !

I think he’s great! Ira’s Italy report was the first posting that I read on Fodor. I love his writing style. He’s so funny and clever. And so much information. I can’t wait to go to Italy; hopefully he can help me once I convince my husband to stay in Italy for the whole trip.

ira Jul 15th, 2005 03:14 AM

Thank you all for your kind words.

Fortunately, my Lady Wife is still asleep and can't see my blushes.

The hotel on the AC is Le Sirene.
The hotel near the Luxembourg gardens is the Bonaparte.

I receive no compensation of any sort from them.

I am not Rex.

I use the ((I)) because it is ( ( I ) ).

I live in the very pleasant town of Madison, GA. Chosen the number 1 small town in the USA by some magazine none of us had ever heard of, but we made up a lot of banners.

Madison looks like a beautiful town!! It is definitely on my list of places to visit. Thanks for posting the website, Ira.

I had not thought it would serve any purpose... to respond, in the slightest, to the suggestion that ira and I are the same person.

But since he has refuted it, I'll add my own pedantic scintilla of analytic data to furher clarify the distinction.

ira is the guy who posts an average of 21.3 times a day.

in my own more loquacious style, i muster a mere 8.4

of course, these averages fluctuate; they represent the figures from the past six months. your mileage may vary...

Hi Ira!

mrk Jul 24th, 2005 09:06 AM

Ira,
You have helped me a lot and I am very grateful. I am from Fort Lauderdale but haven't been there for about 5 years. Next time you go, there is a sub place calles La Spada's that makes the best roast beef subs I have ever had. (If this place has closed that would really disappoint me). It is on Commercial Blvd near the beach by the Intracoastal.
I am sure you will see more of my posts so thanks for the help.
We too are staying at Hotel Bonaparte next week because of your posts.

julia_t Jul 24th, 2005 09:12 AM

I'd just like to say thanks for all the advice, whether to me or to others.

For my part, it is read, considered, digested, acted upon or filed (with fodor's) for future reference, but above all it is appreciated.

ira Jul 24th, 2005 10:43 AM

Thanks for the kind words.

Have a lovely visit, mrk.

This makes 100 replies. :)

Wayne Jul 24th, 2005 11:54 AM

In my experience, Ira is a know-it-all who usually (not always) knows it all.

ira Jul 24th, 2005 02:00 PM

Thank you, Wayne,..... I think. :)

Parfym Jul 24th, 2005 09:16 PM

I totally agree with all of you in regards to Ira. Be advised, he knows that we all look up to him (rightly so.) We trust and admire him (rightly so) For this reason, he has taken the weekend off, and is spending it with me in California, (rightly so). You know....the burden of being persued by...the dayly tabloid and ....the admiring Fodorites. The guy needs a break.

Fairhope Jul 25th, 2005 04:55 AM

It is all in the detail--and Ira gives it

ira Jul 25th, 2005 05:14 AM

P, you weren't supposed to tell.

bellastar Jul 25th, 2005 11:17 AM

A very good thing ira contributed to the forum

Starting the thread "helpful information about Italy"

Two "know it all" type comments that I disagree with, out of hand, since I don't think they were based on his experience at all, just the need to have his name on the thread, without substantiating the opinion.

One was telling a poster "not to bother" going to the Amalfi Coast off season. (I don't think he had ever been there off season.) The other, which I just read, was telling a poster who wanted some encouragement "not to bother" going to Siena for a few hours. I am sure Ira's many fans here will thoroughly disagree- sorry, but I found the those 2 comments kind of off-putting.

Actor Jul 26th, 2005 08:39 AM

If you find out all you want to know about Ira but then what do you do with the information. I found the posts Ira makes very informative and sometimes witty.

Keep them coming Ira!

yeadonite Jul 26th, 2005 09:12 AM

When Ira responds it makes your day.

LoveItaly Jul 26th, 2005 10:44 AM

Why most everyone enjoys Ira's post IMO is besides his knowledge and opinions, which one can accept or ignore, is that Ira is always a gentleman. The world needs more people like Ira. Cheers!

TexasAggie Jul 26th, 2005 10:47 AM

And getting an "ira response" to your trip report makes carrying that little notebook around during your entire trip quite worth it :-)

Poohgirl Jul 26th, 2005 12:46 PM

I'm another fan of Ira because of his knowledge and kindness. I also appreciate Cigelchanta and LoveItaly who are also very kind. And Elaine and Budman and Marilyn. And many others whose names I can't remember off-hand. Thank you all.

alps Jul 28th, 2005 07:38 AM

Ira exhibits his generosity by submitting sincere replies to most posts, no matter how obscure; at least he has with the few I've posted. Extrapolate that to the myriad fodorites and it's clear that Ira is omnipresent!

In the short time I've been involved with fodor-talk, I've already come to value any of Ira's input!

GRAZIE MILLE IRA!!!

ira Jul 28th, 2005 08:14 AM

Hi bella,

Sometimes I forget to enter IMHO.

ira Jul 28th, 2005 08:15 AM

Hey guys,

Thank you all for your kind words.

Hi notajadedtraveler,
I strongly suggest you repost your question on a new thread for the best advice. More people will see it that way. Make sure to write a detailed title.

PalQ Aug 3rd, 2005 10:33 AM

Ira is a Georgia peach i believe - peachy keen advice always!

OldSouthernBelle Aug 19th, 2005 01:52 PM

If that's the case, I sure hope ira can make it to the Atlanta GTG on Sept.17th!??

Belle.

TexasAggie Aug 19th, 2005 01:55 PM
