Ira,help me decide
I'll be in Rome 2 days (already been there) then Positano 3 days, then Ravello 1 night (staying there to see the concerts on a Monday night. So do I stay one more night OR visit Pompei for the day...which I want to do and continue heading west for my last day...maybe staying in Vico Equense. In other words I"m trying not to backtrack. I have a car..traveling with my wife..and don't mind changing hotels if it is for a good reason Thanks
Ira would say, spend that extra night in Venice or Paris!
I thought he'd say go to Praiano :-)
We'll be going to Praiano one of the days were staying in Positano. Two nights in Ravello I'm sure will be fine. However..everything I've read indicates it takes a while to get anywhere...and I haven't heard much about Vico Equense.

I wonder why Ira hasn't responded. If this person wants your advice, Ira, please be kind and give it. I just paid you a big compliment on another thread and I'd hate to be disappointed.
I'm guessing that you're flying home from Rome? If so, you could leave the day before, spend the afternoon/early evening in Pompeii ( you can store your luggage at the entrance), then overnight in Rome before your flight home the next day.
Yes We are flying home from Rome(7pmflight)..however the first two days of our trip we will have been in Rome...I was looking for a suggestion around the Amalfi Coast. If I stayed a night in the Pompei area..do you have a suggestion (150E)

message to Wayne - I think that we have to view people like Ira and Rex as privileges and not as trained dogs.
I know that each day as I revisit the forum (often), I look forward to their comments and advice. However, I am certain that each of them, as well as so many of the others who take the time to assist so many of us, often have other things in their lives to take up their own time. If Ira or anybody else from whom someone is seeking specific help fails to respond, I feel that we should be happy if others take up the reins and assist the person seeking advice. This web-site is a wonderful device for all of us to share information, and I think Ira sets a wonderful example in obviously trying to recommend whenever possible, and it shows how great this system is that when he may not be able to respond (for whatever reasons, as I would assume he is not on the web when he's in the car), so many others are taking the time to share their knowledge. I know that there is currently another thread which is more devoted to this issue, but I would like to thank Ira, Rex and all of you others who are making my particular trip so much easier to plan. Keep it up, Fodorites! |
Well I agree that I was just taking a shot at getting Ira to personally respond. That being said ..if anyone else can give me advice..it would be much appreciated

give him a break maybe he's on the john...
anyway I too am doing a similar trip in June and am staying at the Hotel Forum in Pompei just a across from the stadium entrance. It takes longer than one thinks to see all of the ruins and this hotel is convienient and inexpensive has internet etc..... http://www.hotelforum.it/inglese.htm |
Thanks euroenvy..Ichecked out ther site and email a reservation request. Rates certainly seem reasonable. By staying there .. I can leave in the am and maybe see Naples on the way to Rome.
The Hotel Forum has responded that they are fully booked ..so my search continues.

One step ahead...I emailed them already. Hotel Forum said that around Easter (my trip is April 19-28) all the hotels are booked.
