Ira: Can you (or anybody) help with these Rome restaurants?

We asked our concierge in Rome to recommend some trattoria type places and he faxed us back that he had made reservations at 2 places. It's written rather than typed, so I'm guessing at these:

Pietro
Clerente, or maybe Clemente?

Can you shed any light on these?

You're counting the teeth of a gift horse. The recommendationd are likely to be a good. If they turn out to be as I expect quite he'll deserve a tip.

I've found the second one, it's Ristorante Clemente alla Maddalena. I found it reviewed on several other travel sites but all the reviews are by the same person. Anybody familiar with it?

Still trying to find the first one, Pietro. It probably has another word in front or behind it.

Just curious... Which hotel's concierge? There might be an opinion based on the hotel, even if no one can comment on the restaurants. My experience is that most hotel's make very good recommendations.

Linda:

Is the Clemente near the Pantheon? If so, we ate there in May 2003 on the recommendation of our concierge at the Del Senato. We loved it although we were not able to secure an outside table. We were fine eating inside but if you want to sit on the patio, I would make that request.

Service was very friendly, the food (especially the seafood) was delicious. Prices were pretty reasonable-- not cheap but not super expensive either. This was 3 years ago though and the dollar was stronger. And of course, I can't remember one bad meal in Italy!

Have a wonderful time in Rome.

Jean, the hotel is Eden near the Spanish Steps (I think).

Thanks Eloise, I think that's it and I'll check it out.

Jane: I'm glad you mentioned the seafood. I had wanted to go to a seafood restaurant and I'm happy to hear that this one does it well.

Thanks all!

Linda:

We loved the rooftop bar at the Eden. We had gone to Italy for our honeymoon and a family friend gave us about 100E specifically for drinks at that bar. It was so serene and peaceful with great views. Our 100E did not go very far though-- if I remember correctly, I had 2 Bellini type drinks and my hubby had 2 beers! Sigh-- great memories though...wish we were there now!

Jane,
As luck would have it we have reservations at the rooftop restaurant on our last night. I'm glad you warned me about the price. Hopefully I'll have time before we leave to sell some things on Ebay to pay for that dinner!
