iPods, transformers and 220 volts!
Has anyone used a transformer over in Britain to charge their iPods? The transformer packaging says not to use it with any electronics with circuit boards. Help! I leave for a walking tour of Cornwall on Friday!
You won't need a converter- iPod chargers are dual voltage. You'll just need the little adapter plug to be able to plug it in.
my son asked about using his ipod in Europe and the salesman at the Apple Store directed him to a section with adapters.
I've used my ipod(Belkin) charger in several countries. No problem.I just needed an adapter plug.
This is the beauty of Mac/Apple products. You do NOT need to use your voltage adapter! Just grab your plug attachment and go!

I have an Apple power adapter and charged my iPod in London and Paris last week. Just needed plug adapters.

molly,
That question might be better asked in the appropriate category at http://discussions.apple.com/categor...categoryID=146 Be sure to give full details of the model. Michael |
Actually, this is the beauty of just about any electronics manufactured in the past five years or so. Some manufacturers have been doing it for ten or more. Only Apple owners seem to think this is a big deal.
I think if you use a transformer in addition to your iPod charger, you can actually damage the iPod. You only need the iPod charger, with a plug adapter. Double-check to be sure, though.

No, it's a converter that can mess up electronics. A transformer is harmless.
just check the charger. no need to speculate. it will be clearly marked. usually it says "input" and lists the voltage...if it's 110-240v (or close) you are OK anywhere with just an adapter.
same goes for your digital camera, etc. there is no other way to be totally sure as these things can vary based on model or (more likely) where it was purchased. |
Thanks everyone! I'll get a adapter for it and hope for the best! Can you imagine walking without an iPod nowadays?!?!
Yes, I can. I think I'm the only 20 something in American that doesn't have one. I quite like my own thoughts when walking. Plus I can eavesdrop on other people easily too.
