You found an old post to add to, so this is not news. Nothing wrong with adding "it's still happening" but you could tell the same story about Barcelona, Rome, or Boston.

Yes, I do always wonder about topping old posts, especially a brand new poster, but maybe when one is brand new, they look to see if there is interest in the topic they want to discuss….

Excellent revival - I ddi't read the old aprt, but i really loved the 'churches are all alike'.
A real open mind here, taking in the beauty and finding happyness in every day's life.
I'm just so glad I don't know anybody who is so negative.
Hope he didn't ruin his wife's trip.

I know countless people who have had things stolen in Switzerland; especially iphones and purses.
Even if the thieves are caught, it's difficult to punish them. You can throw them in jail but as soon as they get out, their pickpocketing starts all over again. You can fine them but they usually don't have the money to pay. Depending on where they come from, you can or can't kick them out of the country and even then they usually sneak back in.
Law-abiding citizens are frustrated because there are no sound solutions to the problem.

I'm sorry your wife's phone was stolen from her. That's not good. But, you sound like you didn't want to be there in the first place and didn't appreciate any of it. Perhaps next time your wife should travel with a friend. Someone who can appreciate European history. Living in So Cal our history is infantile compared to the history of Europe.

First of all the stolen iPhone 6 is useless to the thieves as long as it's set to lock and iCloud has been set up.
They can't wipe and use the iPhone as new without the user supplying the iCloud password or the iPhone pass code or in the case of the iPhone 6, the fingerprint.
So it will be dead weight to the thieves, unless the owner unlocked it using the Find Your iPhone app/service.

Since I use my phone as my main camera, I have a special case with a strap that goes around my neck. I keep the phone in my breast pocket...very convenient and relatively secure.
The first thing I do when my plane lands is remove my regular case, switch SIM cards to the local one, and put on the hanging case.
Works well.
Mine is a Genisen IPhone 6 case, which I got at Amazon for ten bucks, but is currently unavailable. I'm sure there are others like that out there.
