A little more on this subject, on a tour of Europe a couple of months ago and another tour in North America earlier this month we found that several of the big hotels had free wifi in the rooms, some only in the lobby. The connection was usually 500kbps but you could pay if you wanted a faster connection around 5mbps. With the many free wifi areas we managed to keep up to date with our email and other things.
