Internet in Vienna, Budapest, Krakow and Prague
Are there any reputable companies that offer Mifi in all these countries as I'll need to stay connected on the road for maps and such. Running in and out of coffee shops to get wifi seems a bit too troublesome. I've read about Tep, but the reviews don't seem to be good outside of the UK.

I have not read any reviews of Tep but their system looks quite good.
You do not get connected to the internet by WiFi but the Tep dongle connects to the local 3G (mobile phone) networks. And then emulates a personal WiFi hotspot (like many smartphones can do).
The advantage is that you can connect more than one device to your personal WiFi hotspot and not just the one device which is connected to the mobile network.
As Tep says that they connect to multiple 3G networks abroad, your coverage should be as good as technically possible. Though in rural areas, you may not have any 3G coverage at all, so you have no highspeed connectivity anyway.
The 150MB per day data cap is pretty much okay, but if you plan to use maps heavily this can suck up lot of data.
But if maps are your primary concern, you could get a (free or cheap) map app for your phone which you can use offline. So the maps are in the phone, and the GPS signal needs no data connectivity to show you the routes.

Does anyone have any experience with TEP in these countries?
Or is it possible to just buy a local SIM card and subscribe to their data - but is there any network that works across all these cities? Or would I have to buy a SIM card for each city individually?
I want to stay connected on the road, for e-mails, messaging, etc besides maps.

Hi,
If you'd like to get internet connection in all these countries, you can easily do so by going to internet café.
If you really need it when on the road, I suggest to buy a sim card in each of these countries or what they called a 3G usb key (I know they have it in Czech Republic where I leave, for example with O2).
All in all, as it won't be cheap, I would definitely recommend to try and manage in cafés !
