Well, I think daughter and I are nearly ready for our Scotland trip. Itinerary is done and B&Bs are all set up. June one more thing, anyone out there know where to find a list of internet cafes in scotland?

We just returned from Scotland a few weeks ago. I never did find a useful list of internet cafes before our trip. But we did note that many of the tourist information offices had at least one internet station available, or could direct us to one. Edinburgh was no problem. We used a large internet cafe on Rose Street in New Town.

A word of caution:

You'll doubtless get references to lists. But there's no definitive list.

Internet cafes come and go. SO do BT internet access kiosks (new-style phone boxes with special flashes), and any number of local-government initiatives to "improve web access" (= spend my money on things everyone's got already).

No list can keep up, and half the lists on the web are years old anyway.

Most of the time, the simplest thing is to ask at where you're staying and/or the local tourist office. Except out in the wilds, you're rarely more than a couple of miles from some way of keeping in touch.

In larger towns, you will probably not have trouble finding an internet cafe. In the smaller towns and villages, check out the public libraries.

NJC: We just came back from Scotland and needed to use the internet three times our on route. Our procedure was to ask the town tourist office first; in three out of four towns, they directed us to the town library.
