International Student ID?
I've heard students can receive discounts throughout Europe, on entrance fees and transportation, if they have one of these cards. Does anyone know about them-- how to get one and does it earn enough discounts to make it worth the trouble to obtain? I assume U.S. student IDs are not accepted? Our 'kids' will be 20 and 16 when we visit London, Paris and Amsterdam this June. Or are they entitled to youth discounts anyway? Thanks for any tips.

the card is called ISIC.
my kids always have one. good for special airfares(kilroy tickets), museums, discounts.. museums sometimes free with card.
some museums allow disconts with ANY student ID.
others only with this one.
others for europeans.
so.. can't cost over $10.. probably worth it.
do a search to find points of sale. .

I traveled with an ISIC card when I was a student. I could get them through my university.
It was definitely worth it. The ISIC card was accepted by EVERYONE - people were less likely to accept regular student ID.

I used one in 2002, I believe it cost around $20 (maybe $22). It was accepted everywhere. My best friend only carried her University of Texas student ID and she was not allowed to take advantage of several of the student discount admission prices.
