International Flights: Early or Late Departure?

I always book the 11PM flight Boston/Paris. It's much easier to try to sleep at that hour than at 5-6PM. We have dinner at our regular time and usually avoid in-flight food service, but the aromas on Air France this last trip were incredible, as was the Beef Forestiere! We fell asleep after dinner, and next we knew they had turned the lights on for breakfast. In our experience, passport control has been far faster than arriving with all the early morning flights. We also like not arriving in Paris until noon. By the time we take care of a few errands, we can get into the room or apartment to shower and shed our "airplane clothes". What a relief.

Coming home, we love the 4 PM flight. We can stay out late our last night without having to cut the evening short to pack or have to get up at dawn to get to CDG. We have plenty of time for a nice breakfast, a last stroll around, before heading to CDG.

Ditto - I like the later flight. I feel like I get more sleep as I eat dinner at a normal time before boarding, then skip the meal and hit the zzz's right away. After takeoff I might wake up to recline my seat.

So I am going with my gut here. ;-)

Everyone's lucky enough to not have to go to work on the departure day?
