International Driving Permit in Italy?

Do I need an IDP to rent a car in Italy?

the short answer - yes.

You will most likely not be asked for it when picking up the rental car. But it is a requirement for driving in Italy and if you are stopped by the plice you'd better have it w/ you.

Absolutely. If you have an accident
you will be glad you have it.
