International Driver's Permit ?
 

Can someone tell me what the turnaround time is for the Int'l driver's permit if you mail it in with the pictures? Is it quicker if you visit a AAA office? Also, do you have to be a member for that? I'm a member, but my husband isn't. Thanks!

By mail, mine recently took 3 weeks. Walkin is right away - no wait. No, you don't need to be a member.

Since I don't live near an AAA office it was easier just to mail it in. Look up the address on their website, but be sure to call the office to see if they accept mailins. The 1st office I contacted did not, but gave me the # of their central office.

If you go to AAA in person you get the IDP while you wait. Just minutes.

We got ours last week and when I called to check the girl suggested that we fill out the online form and take it with us. The photos are free if you are a gold memeber. Within minues we were on our way with our new permits. Be sure and take your regular DL when you go because the international DL is not vaild without it.

For the heck of it, I sent apps for two IDPs to two offices in GA.

One came back in 1 week. The other took 2 weeks.
