Interlaken weather (rain) in late July

Hi, traveled to Interlaken a bunch of times. Always gone in late Aug/early Sept.

In 2009 we are thinking of going in late July. Does anyone here have a sense of how rainy it is then? Are there any Swiss citizens or other experienced traveler who have a sense of this?

According to MSN weather, July and August are wetter in Interlaken than September.

Thanks,

Peter

Impossible to predict. Each year is different. Weather changes quickly in the Alps. I do not believe in weather statistics.

Vettaman,
I am leaving at the end of August--Wengen then a bus tour of Switzerland. How was your weather when you went at that time of year?
Cold-wet-hot?

Hi, the weather in late August/early September has always been great. Temperatures ranged from 60s and 70s in Valley (Interlaken) to 50s and 60s in Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Wengen was in the 60s too.

Very comfortable.

I tend to agree about having cold temps and rain in August. It has happened this year too.

Beg. of July was cold and rainy this year. Second half was marvelous.

Try to come the last three weeks of July. You might get some great weather.

No guarantees.

Thanks Schuler -- are you a resident of the Interlaken region?

Nein. I live in Central Switzerland, not too far from Mt. Rigi.

schuler-Hi,
Would you be able to recommend restaurants in Wengen. We are leaving from canada to Zurich on Aug 2th. We spend 3 nights in Wengen then a 2 week bus tour of Switzerland.
Any other hints would be appreciates as well.
thanks

Sorry. I've only been to Wengen once. They are many other posters who have made it one of their favourite destinations. Type in "Wengen" and "restaurant" in the search function.

Also see Bob Brown's many posts on Wengen and the Berner Oberland area.

fleuve---most of the restaurants in Wengen are in hotels, but you do not have to be a guest of the hotel to dine there. We thought the dinners at Hotel Baeren were fantastic.

Da Sina, which is one of the few not in a hotel, has an excellent reputation but we have not tried it ourselves.
