Interlaken or Wengen??
Which would you pick to spend 2 out of 6 nights in swizerland?
|
Wengen! It's like a setting for Heidi. We've stayed in Interlaken and we've stayed in Wengen and there's no doubt that Wengen wins in my book.

Wengen is wonderful and fun getting to. Interlaken is just another town.

Yep, no contest - Wengen.

Got to agree with Wengen as well.
It's not that Interlaken is such a bad place to stay, but Wengen offers better views of the mountains and quicker access to *some* great walking and hiking trails. It has peaceful surroundings. Once the sun goes down, the town becomes a ghost town. As of last year there were two bars open. One bar where mostly the locals go and the other bar is a bar where mostly the locals go. The second bar attracted me because I could hear "When the music's over" by the Doors playing and well, that did it for me. :D Then I got the kid to crank up on the bar stereo some John Lee Hooker, Zz Top, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn and other cool tunegae. Hell, I spent about 6 hours in that bar one evening soaking up suds and cool tunes. :D Seriously, Wengen is fine place to spend a few nights. I walked from Wengen all the way to Alpligen via Kleine Scheidegg one year. You can rent mountain bikes also at one of the outdoor places also. Tons of stuff to do. You can see Murren on the other side of the Lauterbrunnen valley as well. If you pop over there, it is easy enough with the Wengerbahn train system that takes you down to Lauterbrunnen. Cool place to bed down, but not exactly a buzz place for night life. Anyway, have fun. |
Need a fifth vote for Wengen to convince you? You got it - Wengen has to be your choice.
