Interlaken & Wengen Climate Question?

I am planning a trip for my wife and I to Wengen in mid-September. Wondering if you can suggest how to dress properly. It looks like there is about a 20 degree difference between Interlaken and Wengen...

Has anyone one been to Wengen in September that can offer up some packing tips...We are also staying at the Caprice, they seem really nice there.

I do need to get a room for one night in Zurich before going to airport, something not to expensive and in or very near old city..we only have a 1/2 day and one night, dont mind a little noise...Lots of request, will take any help most appreciatively.

I always suggest pack light. Having just visited both Wengen and Interlaken in September, I suggest to take layering type clothes and a good pair of walking shoes. We experienced quite cool weather in both towns. Assuming you will visit Jungfrau you would want that kind of clothing anyway.

As for Zurich, I can suggest Hotel Foyer Hottingen as a good clean and inexpensive hotel. They provide a nice breakfast as well. Although the rooms are fairly basic, they were fine.

If you come into Zurich by train, you can reach the hotel by an electric bus. The stop is right outside the main entrance of the train staion. If you need more details just ask.

I hiked in September 2007 above Wengen & above Murren. Started the day with a sweater and had to shed it because I was too warm.

You pays your money, you takes your chances.

lenox...not sure what you meant by last line? sorry..i am dumb sometimes....

Lily, our flight lands at 830am...do you think we can make the 10am train?

Hey John, there is a train station at the airport is that where you would catch the 10 am train? Are you buying a rail pass of any sort? Trains leave quite often so you can just get a ticket once you arrive to be safe.

John, I have found as a fairly warm blooded creature I rarely needed a jacket or cardigan in either Wengen or Interlaken at that time of year, both can be for me (from the UK) hot, but on the other hand in Lucerne last September I did wish I had a cardigan under my raincoat on a wet Saturday. If you intend going higher than Wengen ie the Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch then yes you do need a warn coat, fleece of sweater, depending on your plans for exploring at the summit. But there again I have sat in short sleeved top at Jungfraujoch sun bathing, only once but I have done it. I've also been up there in a blizzard, but that's a whole different story.

johnb, it's an old expression, "you pays your money, you takes your chances."

can't tell you the origin, but basically, i could have said, "life is like a box of chocolates. you never know what you're going to get."

Tipsygus: LOL, I must be cold blooded then! You are right tho, my husband rarely needed the layers I did.
