Interisland Flights plus tax
On the Aegean Air online booking screens, a flight from Athens to Heraklion/Crete is 60 EUROS, with a tax of 26 EUROS --- almost 50%
Is this tax correct, and is there any way to reduce it (e.g., purchase ticket when in Athens). Thanks for info. Rick in Maryland |
Hi Rick,
Taxes are taxes and are not related to the price of the ticket. Sometimes you can find fares of 1 cent with 40E tax. |
Right. What I was wondering, however, was is the tax the same for me using the website here in the USA versus purchasing my ticket while in Greece.
Some places apply tax differently depending on how/where the ticket is purchased. Thanks! Rick in Maryland |
If you book through
http://www.aegeanairlines.gr/aegeanen/home/index.asp you'll pay the same either from US or Greece. |
And the tax will be the same if you book it from a travel agency here in Greece. No reductions.
You can check also Olympic Airlines, they may have a cheaper flight. |
Summer schedules and fares haven't been released yet. Don't expect them until sometime after January.

Thanks for the info. How do you know when summer fares and schedules have been posted? Currently, they do offer flights and fares, but I understand these will change. Is there a set date, or what?
Thanks! Rick in Maryland |
I don't know if there's a set date, but I do know from talking to the Olympic ticket office in New York and from an email response from Aegean that the new schedules aren't out yet. I think one way you'll be able to tell is by the frequency of flights offered for any given dates. Right now they're fairly sparse, and once the new schedules are out you'll see an increase in daily air traffic.
It was Olympic that told me to check back after the first of the year. I think they said mid-January |
