Interesting things to do in Paris in Aug/Sept
Thanks to all of you, I've already found a few unusual activities for my month in Paris this summer. I plan to attend a Jim Haynes dinner; I'm going to a concert at Sainte-Chapelle, and finding someone with a smart chip card to rent me a bike.
Paris experts - are there any other interesting, non-touristy activities you would recommend for a solo traveler in her 30s? Thank you! |

I MAY BE WRONG, but I think I read that Jim Haynes had died sometime this year.
Does anyone else know? |
Vanne, you're confusing the living Jim Haynes with Ben Haines who did die last year.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure you're right.

Have you checked out (and added yourself) to this thread?

Ooh, thanks robjame... I hadn't seen that thread for some reason. Will add myself now.
(If Jim Haynes is dead, he's somehow figured out how to use email in heaven) ;-) |
Hi S,
The Orangerie has reopened. The Impressionists will be properly displayed, I think. ((I)) |
Musee de l'Orangerie primarily has the panels of water lilies specifically painted for an oval room (huge) there by Monet. They are spectacular. To my recollection, on our first visit, there was one room of water lilies. Now there are two. In addition, there is a small, but exquisite, collection of paintings by other artists.
Since you will be in Paris a month, you can always wander by from time to time and head on in when the line is not too long. |
