Interesting Hotel in Rome?
 

We're looking for an interesting, centrally located, but reasonably priced (under $200) place for 4 nights in September. Any ideas for us???

I can recommend you Hotel Britannia in via Napoli (not far from Termini Railstation); There are another two, one near Piazza del Popolo in via della Penna, Hotel Locarno, clean nice rooms and Albergo Santa Chiara "nel cuore di Roma" (in the heart of Rome, just behind the Pantheon in via Chiara. Restaurants I can recommend Er Farciolaro and for a good italian coffee Tazza d'Oro both near the Pantheon."Buon Viaggio"

I had a similar problem looking for an hotel in Rome for a week-end in september.

Here is what I could find :

- World of Savings program - Hilton Cavalieri Roma (near the Vatican, on top of a hill) : 315.000 L

- Visconti palace (near Castel San Angelo) : extendable week-end rate (with bkf) : 300.000 L.

- Atlante Star : 375.000 L with breakfast

- Hotel Forum (next to Fori Imperiali) : 440.000 L

- Hotel Mascagni (Barberini) : 400.000 L.

Don't know current room rates, but La Residenza, near the Via Veneto above the Spanish Steps used to be a good value and great location--haven't been there for 5 years or so, perhaps it's been discovered and become chic!! Book very far ahead in any event!

As a travel agent, I recommend La Residenza I have just faxed the hotel for clients and the prices, as of yesterday, were $169. for a standard room and $195 for a suite. All prices include tax and a full american breakfast. (All you can eat.) I have 5 couples ending their cruise in Rome and will stay at this hotel. I will be staying there in October. Hope this helps.
