intercontinental hotel
 

We are booked into the Intercontinental in Prague but I can find it neither in the Fodor guide book or at this site. I would like to know about the general vincinity of the hotel ( Old town) and what sites and restaurants are nearby. Can someone help me

it's very well positioned...right on the river and central. it's an old soviet style property, very ugly but renovated so i'm sure the rooms are nice. you can walk to all central sites from here. prague is very easy to get around so as long as you are in the general central area (which intercontinental is), then you do not feel disconnected. never stayed there so i can only comment on its position.

It's a boring Intercontinental, but in a good position near the few designer shops that Prague has in Pariz St. A strange lobby with lots of hanging sheer silks to achieve some sort of effect.

What's your budget or is this a points affair?

We are on a Tauck tour which has one night in each of it's major cities with eating on your own. We always like to go to the best, so don't worry about budget.

The Intercontinental in Prague looks like a large glass block. Not very interesting, architecturally speaking, especially in a city like Prague. It is in a good location, however, just at the end of Pariska Street. You are a 3-minute walk to the Jewish ghetto, and a 5-minute walk to Old Town Square. St. Anges Convent (has it reopened yet?) is down the street along the Vlatava. There is a very trendy restaurant on Pariska Street called Pravda. I did not eat there, but the food looked great and the clientele were very well dressed.

Pravda wasn't bad, but its sister restaurant HOT is cheaper, and the food more interesting.
