Hi All,
We are travelling to switzerland for 5 days and want to know that which train we shall opt to travel within cities in switzerland. Our itenary is - We are reaching Zurich on 25th Aug '16 around midday and from there we are going to Murren. We planned to stay in Murren for 3 days and return to zurich and stay a day over there before leaving back. We wanna know some economical mode of transport ( Preferable trains ) to travel across these cites - Zurich to Murren and then to zungfrao and coming back to zurich. Thanks Arushee |
Go here for schedules and tickets although it may or may not benefit you to buy some tickets ahead of time on line.

You take InterCity (regular long-distance trains) from Zurich Airport to Interlaken-Ost(see www.sbb.ch for schedules - probably have to change in Zurich Hbf - Hauptbahnhof or main in town Zurich station.
At Interlaken-Ost take mountain train to Lauterbrunnen - then change to an aerial gondola that swoops up the cliff to Grutschalp - then take a train to Murren - should take about 3 hours all told. A Swiss Pass covers this in full and if going down from Murren to other places this will cover many things in the area, including lake boats and postal buses. for lots of good info on Swiss trains check yes www.seat61.com and also www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com. No need to buy in advance -no discounts usually on those trains- get a pass IMO and just hop on any train anytime. |
www.swisstravelsystem.com has tons of great info.
