Just found interactive Paris Map which is letting me to see that from whee I'll live there is a path through all attractions !

Using this Map can someone tell me how far is to walk from Bastille to let say
Notre Dame and d'Orse ?
Just want to see if I'll be able to walk instead of using a metro.
By looking at this Map it seems all in Paris concentrated so close and you can walk everywhere. Can you ?

And it appears that Place de la Bastille and ND are approximately 1km apart.

Paris is a great city for walking! If you like to walk, you can get to most places by foot. I would not choose to walk to Montmartre, for example, but have walked from the Eiffel Tower to ND. A long walk, but fun!

Paris is a small city. Except for Montmartre, almost all the areas tourists would be interested in visiting can be gotten to on foot.

I often walk all day long in Paris, covering probably at least 10 miles. It depends on how fond you are of walking, what kind of shoes you've got on, and the weather.

Public transportation is also excellent, so it's really up to you. BUt a jaunt from the Bastille to Notre Dame and then the d'Orsay would not be out of the question at all.

Can you, please, look at the map and tell me if the main blue line is ... what ?

And then I could take the boat back to hotel ?

This map is a start, but I do hope it's not what you plan to use to navigate Paris.

You need a detailed map, or one of those Paris par Arrondissement books, to get around the city - something with the scale clearly marked so you understand the distances.

I don't know where your hotel is, so I can't comment whether you can take a boat back to it. The BatoBus makes only five stops, I believe.

Yes, you can certainly walk from La Bastille area to Notre Dame and then continue down the river stopping at all kinds of sites like the Conciergerie, Ste-CHapelle, the Musée d'Orsay, Place de la Concorde, etc. (you'd be hopping back and forth across the river). And yes, it's a beautiful walk!

Because we going to have children with us I figured we are going to need some transport near by. I would love it to be a boat ride. BatoBus was my choice too. I am off to check stops.

Yes, there are "boat rides," but not ones that allow you to get on and off. You'll need to use the bus and métro system. Of course, you can take your family on a bâteau-mouche ride just for fun - the kids will love it! - but not to get around the city.
