Insurance for trip to Sicily

We are going to Sicily for 2 weeks and I would like to buy accident insurance or health insurance online. I am a little leery of using just any site that pops up, does anyone have a reliable company to recommend? Not so much interested in trip cancellation insurance as health related. Thanks.

Hello, arriba, you might want to check out the website: www.insuremytrip.com which has a list of many insurance companies. A lot of Fodorites over the years have used this website as a good resource. I think you will find the website easy to use. Best regards and have a wonderful time in Sicily!

yes, I use www.insuremytrip.com which has been around a long time.

Any company that is on there will be valid, as is the website itself.

Do you have insurance in your own country? Will it reimburse you for medical payments abroad? If so, you do not need extra insurance for medical treatment. BTW, ER treatment is free.

You might decide to get insurance in case you need to be evacuated, and for trip cancellation should the medical emergency require such a cancellation.

Hi arr,

The usual recommendation is to go to www.insuremytrip.com

They have all sorts of policies from many companies.

Thanks everyone. I have been to insuremytrip but was overwhelmed by the choices! I am glad to hear that everyone there is reputable. We might have some kind of evacuation coverage with American Express, I will check--good idea Michael and the advice about cancellation for health reasons.

I have used Travel Guard many times. The one time that I filed a claim and I couldn't fulfill all the proof that they required they still paid me. I have read that it is a bad idea to purchase the Travel Insurance through your travel agent although American Express does sound very safe.
