Insight tours Vienna, Prague and Budapest. Any experiences with this?

My husband and I are planning an Insight tour that will go to Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. We will go in December. Has anyone used Insight before? Any advice about the tour?
Thanks!

Hannah, most people on this board are independent travelers and will probably discourage using tours, especially for a visit to these 3 cities, which could easily be done on your own.

I have not used Insight Tours, but in order to try to get others to help you - why do you want to use a tour? What about it appeals to you? If you do a search on this board, you can read a lot of threads about the pros and cons of tours in general.

Hannah: I have no information on the specific tours you mention, however I can tell you that Insight has a very good reputation for their tours to Egypt-in fact, I thought seriously about using them some ten years ago to go there, after talking with one of their director/owners (who, at the time, was Boston-based and a very nice Englishman, as I recall).

I take it you have also looked at Paul Laifer Tours? You know they specialize in these three cities, and provide very good value.

I have used Insight twice and was very pleased both times. If the itinery pleases you, then you will be in good hands. There will be some optionals at extra cost w/ Insight but they are also worth it. I ususally do them all. I've been to Italy and Spain with them and will use them again when the itinery is right for where I want to go.

Although it's been 10 years ago, I've been on 3 Insight tours and was very pleased. WE felt that we had no worries, everything was looked after for us. Others have said they don't like organized tours, because they want to be able to spend as much time as they like at different sights. We didn't mind giving up that freedom , since we had all worried taken away. We did have free time, and the rest of the time was very well organized. We travelled with many Australian and New Zealanders and had so much fun! If you feel it's the way to go for you, don't be talked out of it. Insight is a good company.
Good luck.

Thanks all! The reason we are taking a tour is because we want it all planned for our first trip to this region. There are around 10 in our group. We travel to Ireland (7 times) on our own, we do feel comfortable doing this. When we make our second trip to this area will probably do it ourselves. Thanks!
