There is also the Edinburgh Sighthill depot of Arnold Clark which is not quite so far out as the airport and also has the advantage of being close to another junction of the motorway on a less busy access road.
That road out west from Edinburgh via Corstorphine to the airport can be a nightmare during early morning or late afternoon rush hour times, very slow indeed, stop/start.

Good to know, thanks! I have been seeing Arnold Clark recommended for renting cars in Scotland - as well as Enterprise, Auto Europe and some of the others.

Auto Europe is a broker -- not a rental agency. They arrange hires through just about all of the major chains -- EuropCar, Hertz, Budget, Avis, etc -- not 100% sure if Enterprise and Arnold Clark are in their pool of agencies but I'd assume so.

Thanks for the reminder about Auto Europe being a broker. It's been a while since we rented a car overseas,

Our trip is starting soon. For those who may have delayed in reserving tickets for Edinburgh Castle, I had to book a more expensive tour rather than getting tickets directly through the Edinburgh Castle website. I want to reserve tickets for entrance to Stirling Castle toward the end of our trip with family but wonder how long to allow for driving from Inverness to Stirling Castle? 4 hours without factoring in lunch? The last tour at Stirling Castle is at 3 pm, and I would like to be sure that we are there in time for that. But the tickets are for a half hour window, and I realize that obtaining parking could be challenging. So I would love your input!

In other news, Rabbies has "outsourced" our Isle of Skye trip to an Inverness tour company with great reviews, and one of the co-owners will be our driver and guide. So I have reason to hope that we will have a great trip to the Isle of Skye,

We also booked a beginner trek for 4 members of our group with Highland Horse Fun in Kingussie and think they will have a great time exploring the highlands on that one hour trip for beginners. Our granddaughter is an experienced rider who could have done the 90 min trek that includes both walking and trotting but she preferred to take the one hour beginner trek with other family members. I wlll report back after our trip, but I have been impressed with the reviews and my phone conversation with someone who works there.

As an aside, the ETA process was very straightforward and it was great to get almost immediate approval.
