Input on Scotland B&B's requested
 

I've tentatively chosen the B&B's at which we'll be staying for our trip in May. Our budget is £20-30/pp/night and am not really concerned with ambiance, views, etc...we'll be outdoors enjoying it, rather than seeing it from our room. Our only requirement is a decent bed - ensuite preferred, but not necessary. Some I've chosen based on reviews here, and others I found on the Undiscovered Scotland website. Any input is appreciated!

Hi Barbara,

You've done a lot of reserch. I've reviewed your list but none of them connected with places we've been. Have you cross-checked them with traveler input available on www.tripadvisor.com ?

For what you want those are all good choices. The only one I've stayed in is Seaview and you will love it.

Haven't stayed at the Corran Inn - but have seen it several times when taking the ferry. Great location.

My only two <u>minor</u> issues would be

1) is there a need to move while on Skye? Was one of those places full so you have to move? Otherwise, I'd consider staying the whole time in one or the other. Just one less pack/check out/check in/unpack. I might lean slightly to Portree but the place in Broadford would be good too.

2) The place in Edinburgh is a bit out of the center and sort of inconvenient for getting out of town to the west when you leave for the Trossachs. But w/ the parking and the cheap rates it will likely fit your needs.

The only one we have stayed at is in
Portree, the Ben Tianavaig. We would wholeheartedly recommend it. The view of the harbour is pretty, the owners friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable. There are lots of good restaurants and pubs within an easy walk. We would love to go back if it wasn't so far away!

My family and I stayed at both the Corran Inn for one night and three nights at Ben Tianavaig last year. I would recommend each. Andy at the Corran Inn was a great help and the food was good as well. Ben Tianavaig is probably the best B&amp;B we have ever visited. The owners, Jill and David Cudworth treated us like family. I would go back tomorrow! All the best.

GBC - Thank you for that reminder. This is my first time planning an int'l trip (I've traveled int'l before, but I just enjoyed the ride vs doing the pre-planning!) - that site is invaluable.

Janis - Our first day in Skye will be spent in Sleat/Elgol/Loch Coruisk...I thought it would be best to stay in that vicinity rather than driving down from Portree. Thoughts? And I did find accomodations just west of Edinburgh center for a reasonable price due to the same concern you had.

barbara, I don't really do B&amp;Bs, but two things

1. The Corran Inn has a great location but I fail to recognise it from that web site. Still you have first hand input.

2. If I were staing in Sleat/Elgol. Loch Coruisk, I'd pick the Eilean Iarmain or the Sligachan. I appreciate neither might suit you.

I agree that Sligachan would be a good choice.

Eilean Iarmain is great, but probably more than twice your budget

I can only comment on the Edinburgh one which to me is rather far out of town, but I don't think you'd get anything more central for your budget. It is on a bus route into town.

The Corran Inn looks nice.
