Input on driver/tour guide for day trips from Madrid
 

While we are in Madrid, we are planning on day trips to Toledo and Segovia. Would anyone recommend a driver/tour guide for these trips? We have done this in some other countries and have found it to be efficient. Is this something we should consider, and if so, can you recommend anyone? Or are we best off just taking the train?

Both the train and bus service to Toledo are excellent and frequent. The old city of Toledo is easy to navigate, so I would do it on my own.
Segovia can be enjoyed as a day trip, or you can stay overnight at the Parador and return to Madrid the following day.
Look for postings here to get more transportation information and have a wonderful time on your own.

You can read Maribel's Madrid Guide (www.maribelsguides.com) for information on visiting Toledo and Segovia. Both are easy day trips from Madrid. Hiring a guide to take you from Madrid to either destination would be expensive, but you can find a local guide once you arrive. Check with the tourist offices when you arrive.

Hello again, I wrote you about your southern Spain day trips as well-- we are also planning on Toledo and Segovia and perhaps Cuenca but want to enjoy Madrid to the fullest first. I think the trains are the way to go. We're considering Cuenca, but we tend to overschedule!

IMO, no need to get a tour or guide. As previously suggested Maribel guides are great.
