I think so. Although I haven't been there in ummmm.... 37 years. I imagine it has gotten more touristy... everything has... but the mountains are fabulous and the "wedding" church on a foothill near the town is an amazing concoction of white and gilt baroque. If you can drive or take the train over the Italian Alps to get there, don't pass that up either!

I really enjoyed a visit to Insbruck last June. The route to Insbruck from Munich was amazingly beautiful. In the Old town area you will find architecture in every kind of style and era (medieval, baroque, renassaince, etc...). The mix is very beautiful. The people are generally friendlier than the Germans. Another good stop is the Olympic City (Winter Olympics of 197?).
It's one of the nicest places in the world!
I was in Innsbruk, Austria in 1984 and also visited Germany and Switzerland at that time. It is really beautiful and still heads the list of my all time favorite places. I'm headed to Italy this fall and only wish I had the time, and money, to drive up to Innsbruk for a few days.

I hate to be the dissenting opinion, but Innsbruck, compared to Salzburg, is kind of boring. Ski for a day in Igls, and then roam around the town, but there's really not a lot to do or see that can't be done in one day. The mountains are beautiful, though
Its old town centre is quaint and nice for a wander. But there really isn't a lot to do. Innsbruck is worthwhile for a shortish trip but I wouldn't stay too long.

I was in Innsbruck for a few days 4 years ago. The scene on the train ride from Liechtenstein was awesome! The surrounding mountain range was beautiful. However, it's a small place, and the attractions listed in guide books are rather disappointing, eg. the Golden Roof, 'cos they are so small while U are probably looking out for bigger monuments. One book said the Innsbruck zoo was the best in Austria (or was it Europe?), but I have seen better ones( outside europe). But it's a nice place for a 1-2 full day visit if it's along the way.
We have been there in Winter and Summer. It is very pretty and quaint but small and if you don't ski I think one day is sufficient.
